A posh by Reddit user “rain-on_tin” complaining about his experience with shoddy roofers.

His r/AusRenovation post is titled “Roofing Scam”.

They talk about their roofing job which was done last year by an Irish crew. They mention that the job costed approximately $25k.

They mention that the roof does not follow code. They do not mention which code specifically but go on to detail that they feel they were scammed due to the following elements (which are admittedly extremely shady)

  • ABN is registered to several different addresses within the span of a few years, does not specify actual address just building or lot number. Doesn’t provide and actual postal address at all.
  • That they haven’t been able to contact them by phone.

OP mentioned that they’ve escalated this to the Victorian Board in Australia but are also considering going through the VCAT route.

OP has found out that this business is linked to a several few others and at the very least 16 related businesses.

OP mentioned that there are many, many fake google reviews associated with these businesses.

OP then opens up the conversation to hear experiences from other r/AusRenovation Users.

If they are foreign nationals, do Australia a favour and gather every single piece of information you have for names, faces, their business activities and practises, and details on your circumstances with them (quotes, photo evidence, police report numbers, complaint numbers) – send it all through to Border Watch (just google to find it).Chances are they’ll get caught trying to leave the country with stacks of cash or with evidence of their activities in their phones, etc. or caught working on a tourist visa and banned from returning.

What do you think OP should do in this situation?
